Emre Olur’s lawyer announced that the objection by the attorney general’s office to yesterday’s court decision for the release of his client was accepted.

Olur, who is known as the press advisor of infamous mafia boss Sedat Peker will not be released.

Lawyer Ersan Barkın tweeted this morning and informed that his client was not going to be released.

“I cannot explain legally why E. Olur is remanded in custody but let me announce the developments: The trial prosecutor requested his release. The court ruled for his release. The deputy attorney general objected. The court rejected the objection. The deputy attorney general objected to the higher heavy penal court which agreed to the objection. E. Olur is remanded in custody,” lawyer Barkın wrote.

What happened?

Emre Olur was brought to Türkiye on September 18, 2022, following his detention in Albania.

Olur went to the UAE before, where Sedat Peker resides, to get a residence permit but was deported, the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) had reported.

It was reported that Olur first went to Serbia and then to Albania after being deported from the UAE.

Olur, who had an Interpol red notice, was brought to İstanbul from Tiran.

He is standing a trial facing charges of “threat,” “praising a crime and a criminal,” “insult,” “being a member of a criminal organization,” “simple injury,” and “insult with an audio, written, or video message.” (AS/PE)
