Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the leader of Turkey’s main opposition CHP said should the heads of the six-party opposition bloc agree on his name, he has no right to object to be the joint presidential candidate to run against Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“There is no imposition here. If there is a consensus on my name, I have no right to object,” Kilicdaroglu said in response to a question whether one of the leaders of the six-party bloc proposes his name to be their joint presidential candidate.

“This is an honorable duty,” Kilicdaroglu told FOX TV on Friday.

Turkey’s six opposition parties who teamed up to restore a parliamentary system in the country, are also working on to put forward a joint candidate to run against President Erdogan in the presidential race, which is most likely to be held on May 14.

The opposition bloc includes the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), nationalist Good Party (IYIP), the Islamist Felicity Party (SP), the Democrat Party (DP), former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu’s Future Party (GP) and ex-Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan’s Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA).

Earlier this week, CHP leader also said that the Six-Party bloc will announce its joint presidential candidate on Feb.13.
