A man verbally harassed the opposition’s main presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu in Turkey’s southeastern province of Adiyaman on Friday, a short time after he was targeted in a cemetery by a man, who scolded Kilicdaroglu saying he would not be able to recite a prayer.

After he left the cemetery, which he visited to pay his respects to the victims of the earthquake, Kilicdaroglu was this time targeted outside a shrine by a man who yelled at him, “We don’t want you here. You don’t belong here.”

Kilicdaroglu was planning to attend a gathering in the city of Kahta and make an address, where a crowd of supporters were already waiting for his arrival, but the plan was cancelled by campaign organizers out of concerns over further provocations.

Kilicdaroglu’s convoy was subjected to an attack as the convoy passed through Kahta. A video posted on Twitter shows one of the cars approached by aggressors, and as the car slows down a man punches and kicks the car with police officers around him not taking any action, or even notice.

The attacks came less than two days after Kilicdaroglu made public in a video that he is of Alevi faith and challenged discrimination.
