Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi Genel Başkan Yardımcısı Muharrem Erkek CHP Genel Merkezinde basın toplantısı düzenledi.

Turkey’s Interior Ministry established a system for election monitoring parallel to the country’s Supreme Election Council, violating the principles of free and fair elections, CHP (People’s Republican Party) Deputy Chair Muharrem Erkek said.

Erkek, who supervises CHP’s legal and election affairs, held a press conference at the party headquarters regarding the election agenda.

During the conference, Erkek claimed that they had detected the establishment of a parallel organization for election monitoring at the Ministry of Interior.

“The Ministry of Interior has requested all governorates to establish an election monitoring module through a letter that it sent. At least 3 personnel will be appointed in districts with a population of up to 20,000, at least 5 personnel in districts with a population between 20,000 and 100,000, and at least 10 personnel in districts with a population above 100,000,” Erkek said.

Erkek also emphasized that they were experiencing this for the first time in an election.

“The Minister of Interior continues to act like a minister of crime affairs. They have established a parallel structure by putting the district governorates against the Ministry of Interior in front of the Supreme Election Council. We warn officials not to comply with this illegal order and not to be an accomplice to this crime,” Erkek said.

He added: “Soylu called May 14 the political coup of the West, they have really lost their minds. There is no power above the people.”
