Opposition’s joint presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu leaded the polls with 51.7% of the votes, ORC Research said on Thursday, just three days ahead of Turkey’s presidential and parliamentary elections.
Being the first poll published after minor candidate Muharrem Ince withdrew from the presidential race, the poll showed Kilicdaroglu was more than seven percentage points higher than President Tayyip Erdogan. But when the poll was conducted, Ince still ran for president.
The poll was conducted with 3,920 participants in 28 provinces for the presidential race and the results were as follows:
Kemal Kilicdaroglu: 51.7%
Recep Tayyip Erdogan: 44.2%
Sinan Ogan: 2.8%
Muharrem Ince %1.3
As for the parliamentary elections, ORC Research also released the results which suggest that the AKP will likely secure the most votes, followed by the CHP.
AKP: %34.5
CHP: %28.4
Good Party: %13.7
YSP: %10.6
MHP: %7.3
Others: %5.5
One of Turkey’s leading polling companies, KONDA, also released its poll yesterday, which indicated that the election seemed likely to proceed to the second round, but the outcome of the first round was still possible if the trend of changing votes continued in the final week.
KONDA’s poll, conducted from May 6-7, revealed that after the undecided votes were distributed in the first round of the presidential elections, Kilicdaroglu would receive 49.3% of the vote, while Erdogan would receive 43.7%. The poll measured Ince’s vote rate at 2.2% and Ogan’s rate at 4.8%.
