FAU is committed to engaged teaching, research, and service, with a university commitment to move toward Research Intensive status. The position start date is August 2022.
Taught by a highly experienced faculty of media scholars and journalists from media outlets covering Southeast Florida along the Miami to Palm Beach corridor, FAU’s undergraduate multimedia journalism program integrates cutting-edge skills transfer with deeply researched analyses of the challenges facing journalism in the modern media environment. Our faculty are active in initiatives in the College, University and in engagement efforts with the community. Several of our faculty serve as associates for the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, on the Peace, Justice, and Human Rights university-level initiative, and on the Executive Committee of the University Leadership Minor.
The primary assignment for the position is on FAU’s main campus in Boca Raton located two miles from the Atlantic Ocean, within short drives of Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, and 45 miles from Miami. We are located in the heart of the 100-mile long South Florida metro region, home to a vibrant, multicultural media industry that includes the headquarters of Telemundo, numerous daily newspapers and TV affiliates, and dozens of local media outlets. The main campus is home to approximately 25,000 of the university’s 30,000 students.
We particularly encourage applicants with backgrounds and perspectives that are underrepresented in higher education, who can demonstrate excellence and leadership in research and teaching, towards an equitable culture and diverse scholarly environment.
US News and World Report measures FAU’s “diversity index” to be among the highest in the nation. It is also designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) by the United States Department of Education, and a “Military Friendly” School by Victory Media.
