FISA Child Rights Center published its latest study for April on “Violations of the Child’s Right to Live in Turkey.”
According to the data obtained through media monitoring, at least 71 children lost their lives in Turkey from preventable causes throughout April.
Of the children who lost their lives, 24 were girls and 45 were boys. According to FISA’s information note, the gender of the two children could not be determined.
Among the 71 children who lost their lives, 23 died in traffic accidents, whereas 12 of them died by drowning in irrigation channels, ponds, and streams close to the regions they live in as the weather gets warmer in Turkey.
5 of them were the children of the families who migrated to Turkey from Syria or Iraq. The number of children who lost their lives as a result of violence is 4.
