Turkish presidential palace spends 10 million liras a day, Court of Accounts reveals

Turkish Court of Account has released its report on the spending of the presidential palace for the year 2021.

The report found that the spending of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s residence increased from 2.8 billion liras in 2021 to 3.7 billion liras in 2021. Accordingly, the daily spending of the complex increased from 8 to 10 million liras on average.

The spending on “medical supplies and lab materials” doubled in 2021 compared to the year before, reaching 112.9 million liras. The spending on “beverages” on the other hand increased to 2.8 million liras last year.

As for the items, the “personnel” expenses (salary, etc) increased from 314.5 million to 368.7 million liras in one year. The “cleaning equipment” expenses increased from 6.9 to 8.2 million liras; the “representation and advertisement” expenses increased from 32.9 to 41.4 million liras.

The “traveling allowance” expenses increased from 8.4 to 11.4 million liras, whereas the “agricultural substances” expenses saw a five-fold increase in one year, reaching 46.3 million liras.
