Milliyet newspaper columnist Özay Şendir talked about a secret plan against Greece that was handed over and revealed in Athens by military associates of the self-exiled imam Fethullah Gülen, who currently resides in the US.
As he stated, the “plan” envisages a “lightning” attack by Turkey on the mainland, targeting Thessaloniki and Athens, in order to surprise Greece, which was expecting movement on the islands.
This action would lead – always according to the “plan” – to move Greek military forces from the Aegean to defend the mainland.
The pro-government columnist claims that Gülen’s organisation, known in Turkey as FETÖ (Fethullahist Terrorist Organisation), handed over to Greek Authorities the specific “plan”, as well as the locations of military bases, arsenals and warehouses from where Turkey would launch its attacks.
“As expected, Greece never announced that it has the specific plan in its possession, although it is making the necessary preparations. But details of the operational plan were published in Greek newspapers with the fear of the Turkish invasion terrorising the Greeks,” writes Şendir.
This was in reference to recent Greek publications that explained possible escalation scenarios from Turkey.
The columnist argues that Alexandroupolis was militarised by the USA, with the “OK” of Greece, because it held “an important position in the Operational Plan that FETÖ delivered to Athens”.
He accused followers of the exiled Imam of seeking to provoke a conflict between Turkey and Greece in order to destabilise the country and bring down Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
At another point in his “analysis”, Şendir refers to alleged American scenarios, with references to the involvement of the CIA, which aim to overthrow Erdoğan from power, through a military conflict between Turkey and Greece.
The columnist cites analysis by Michael Rubin, an American analyst and author, according to which Turkey would initially occupy specific islands and rocky islets in the Aegean, then causing a reaction from Greece that would liberate them militarily, which would lead to the downfall of Erdoğan.
“The expulsion of the Turkish soldier sof the islands by military means would also bring the end of Erdoğan, which would be the same as the end of the Argentinian dictator Galtieri, who tried to occupy the Falkland Islands from the United Kingdom in 1982,” commented the Milliyet columnist.
