The Turkish Minister of Environment and Urban Planning announced that Iranian and Russian nationals were top ranked by a wide margin among foreigners who purchased immovable properties in Turkey within the last six and a half years.
Replying to a parliamentary question, minister Murat Kurum said that 105,496 immovable properties, including 95,422 residents and office spaces, have been sold in Turkey as of late August since early 2016.
While Kurum disclosed the number of properties sold to nationals of several countries, he did not give any information concerning purchases made by Syrian nationals.
Iranian nationals have bought 29,954 immovable properties, while Russians have made 21,905 purchases, Kurum said.
The two were followed by Saudi nationals with 10,474 purchases, Germans with 10,237, British with 6,950, Azerbaijanis with 6.931, Ukrainians with 5,106, Egyptians with 4.898, Qataris with 3,328, Israelis with 1,960, Bulgarians with 1,696, Greeks with 1,558.
The number of purchases made by Iranians and Russians constitute almost half of all real estate sales made in Turkey in the last six and a half years.
The information disclosed by Kurum does not indicate the monetary value of the purchases.
