An armored vehicle struck a 12-year-old child on Wednesday in the southeastern province of Şırnak. The child was rushed to the hospital with head injuries, and reports indicate that their condition is improving after two days.

Tajdîn Adal, initially taken to Şırnak State Hospital, was later transferred to a private hospital in Batman city as their condition worsened yesterday. Doctors said today that Adal is still under intensive care observation but noted that his condition is on the mend.

The Şırnak Governor’s Office has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.

In the predominantly Kurdish-populated eastern and southeastern parts of the country, security forces mostly use armored vehicles in urban areas even though there hasn’t been a significant escalation of conflict since the 2015-2016 period, leading to accidents.

According to statistics from the Human Rights Association, as of June 2023, armored vehicles and security forces’ vehicles have been involved in a total of 82 collision incidents in Kurdish cities over the past 15 years. These accidents resulted in the loss of 44 lives, including 21 children, and left 94 individuals injured, including 23 children. (RT/VK)
