Description:
Camden News is seeking a Director of Local News and Sports
to lead and manage the newsroom’s local news and high school sports coverage.
The Director will oversee news and sports assignments, supervise staff,
maintain high editorial standards, and foster strong community relationships.
This role provides strategic direction to ensure content is accurate, relevant,
and engaging. Responsibilities include setting editorial priorities, upholding
journalistic standards, assigning, editing, and approving news and sports
stories, as well as supervising, mentoring, and evaluating reporters and
editors. The Director will oversee content accuracy, fairness, and
completeness; direct the layout and production of sports and news sections;
build relationships with local coaches, school officials, and community
leaders; integrate multimedia elements into coverage; and represent the
organization at events.
