The Department of Behavioral Sciences is seeking a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Associate Professor of Sociology in the College of Arts, Sciences, Business and Education, with a start date of August 2022. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, serve as a faculty advisor, mentor and coach students inside and outside the classroom; produce scholarly research that results in publications in peer-reviewed journals within the discipline area or within peer-reviewed journals that promote the teaching and learning of the discipline; facilitate presentations at well-respected professional conferences; engage in the procurement of extramural funds with interdisciplinary teams; participate in departmental, College, and university service, as well as engaging in service to one?s professional discipline and the larger Winston-Salem and Forsyth County community.

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Sociology or a closely related discipline, from a regionally accredited institution.

Experience teaching undergraduate students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Demonstrate prior experience leveraging various technologies that engage students in the learning process.

Evidence of situating undergraduate students in undergraduate research experiences and mentoring them through this process or must demonstrate experience engaging students in study abroad, internship opportunities, or community service learning.

Demonstrate experience working collaboratively with professional colleagues and/or the broader community to advance interdisciplinary teaching or research.

Illustrate a commitment to his or her professional growth and development via engagement in professional organizations and professional conferences related to the Sociology discipline.

Research experience and the potential for attracting external funding.

Effective written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
