The Turkish police attacked demonstrators with rubber bullets and tear gas in the Pride Parade at the campus of the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkish capital Ankara on Friday.

38 demonstrators were detained, only to be released soon afterwards.

Hundreds of students gathered in the campus for the parade organised for the tenth time by the METU LGBTIQAA+ Solidarity.

Water cannons, rubber bullets and tear gas were used to disperse the demonstrators, as a large number of riot police attacked the students.

The students were beaten and dragged away to be detained merely for taking part in the parade.

METU LGBTİQAA+ Solidarity later informed on Twitter that all detainees have been released.
