On Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country is closely monitoring the process of purchasing F-16 fighter jets from the United States with the aim of achieving quick results.
Erdogan told reporters on his return flight from Washington, where he attended the NATO leaders’summit, that Turkey’s top priority is to fulfill its request for F-16 fighters. He added that although there may be different situations in subsidiary matters, they do not want to put monetary relations on the agenda.
If the aircraft and parts are delivered to Turkey, they already have sufficient technical staff to handle them. Erdogan emphasized that all of their labs are highly successful in modernizing the F-16s.
During their previous meeting, US President Joe Biden promised to solve the F-16 problem within 3-4 weeks.
