FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Political Science at the City College of New York—City University of New York is searching for an accomplished scholar to fill its endowed Anne and Bernard Spitzer Chair of Political Science. We are particularly interested in candidates from the field of International Relations who have strong backgrounds of academic scholarship and public engagement in one of four broadly defined fields: fields: (1) Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism; (2) Human Rights, Conflict, and Post-Conflict State-Building; (3) Human and Environmental Security; or, (4) the development and reform of international institutions. We are open to candidates whose entire careers have been in the academy as well as those who combine a record of scholarly research with practical experience in a governmental, international, or non-governmental organization the works in the area of international relations.

The position carries the rank of Full Professor with a highly competitive salary and a significant annual budget for research and other projects. The position includes a reduced teaching load of three courses per academic year, with teaching opportunities at the B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. levels.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in Political Science, International Relations or closely related field. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
